Opaque predicates are dead code branches designed to confuse reverse engineers (e.g. if ((x * x) >= 0) which is always true).

In Ghidra, you can write a P-Code dataflow analysis script:

  1. Translate basic blocks into Intermediate Representation (P-Code).
  2. Apply constant propagation and dead code elimination passes.
  3. Replace false branch conditional jumps (CBRANCH) with unconditional jumps (BRANCH).

Simplifies 2,000-line obfuscated functions into 40 lines of clean C decompilation!

Ghidra's P-Code architecture is fantastic for writing automated compiler optimization passes. Hex-Rays microcode API does similar transformations.
